4/17/2023 0 Comments Batman arkham asylum character bio"Always thirsty for power, the Joker even injects himself with the formula and transforms into the Joker Titan… but it all proves futile when Batman thwarts the Clown Prince of Crime’s plans and stops the chaos from spreading any farther," continues the description. RELATED: DC Just Revealed How The Joker Sees Himself - and It's a Nightmare After battling several Titan-enhanced henchmen over the course of the game, Batman faces off against the mutated Joker in a makeshift arena on the roof of the asylum. Instead of merely enhancing a user's strength and speed, Titan causes a person's body to morph into grotesque, exaggerated proportions. Arkham Asylum's plot revolves around Titan, which was intended to be an in-fiction successor to the super steroid Venom used by Bane, but far more virulent. Joker's monster-like appearance comes from the end of Rocksteady Studio's Batman: Arkham Asylum, when the maniacal villain injects himself with a toxin known as Titan in a crazed effort to defeat the Caped Crusader once and for all. "The self-styled Clown Prince of Crime has no superpowers, beyond a capacity for incredible violence and a skill at creating deadly mayhem." I could say more but I think this is the point I'd like to end on, that there's a lack of "junk" and busywork in this game, that is perhaps so obvious today and it really makes this game excellent."An insanely dangerous supervillain, the Joker’s white skin, green hair, and blood-red lips belie the chaotic nature underlying his cartoonish appearance," reads McFarlane Toys' description of the figure. I typed all that and still didn't bring up the combat lol, but the same thing goes, clean, satisfying, not deep or busy with a million skill trees but also not shallow and boring, and the same applies to the gadgets and how they're mostly useful and you'll want to use them across the game. Side note I also really enjoyed the death screens. Shout out to the UI, another underappreciated aspect of games that is just right here. I read and listened to every tape I found. Which reminds me of the Riddler, and how the collectibles in this game are done right, the tapes and bios are fun and concise, and the riddles are satisfying to find. Honestly, I could talk at length about the excellent VA in the game, Mark Hamill and Conroy fucking nailed it, but everyone was pretty much fun to listen to. The other thing that I really appreciate is how lively the whole island feels, from how things change outside to the little conversations between guards or goons and of course The Joker continuous teasing through the screens and speakers to even the increasing cuts on Batman's cape. Cause even the Scarecrow sections don't overstay their welcome and build up to and do something different with interesting presentaion, unlike similar sections in some other superhero game. In Arkham Asylum it is done so well and in a way that never felt dated, the game is paced beautifully and is never dragged down by unecessary additions or extended cutscenes. I could turn this whole thread into an arguement of why studios should consider the middle between traditional linear games and huge open worlds. Coming into this game I wasn't necessarily expecting a metroidvania, but of course once you play it that makes so much sense. The entire aesthetic of Arkham I found pleasing, which in addition to the design and layout, help make the game fun to traverse through and that makes me think of something game design wise. The physics stuff isn't mindblowing but I think that helps keep the game feeling "fresh" especially when so many games today feel incredibly static. ![]() ![]() But what's more crazy is probably how I don't mind the character models now? They feel comicbook appropriate and fitting, thu Ivy's hair is still weird. It is also hard not to notice how much in this game has influenced so many games over the years. It was still surprising to me remembering that this game is more than 10 years old, it aged so damn well and you feel it from the opening. ![]() ![]() I picked the trilogy during the last Steam sale, so I played it there and my only customization was the "advanced launcher" to increase FOV and framerate.
